ADVANCED WEAPONS TACTICS: RIFLE TIER 1 (ROANOKE)

SafeSide’s Advanced Weapons Training: Rifle Tier 1 course is designed to offer Intermediate to Advanced shooters an opportunity to improve their Assault Rifle shooting skills and become more comfortable with their weapons in a Close Quarters scenario. Shooters will review/learn the basic fundamentals of the Assault Rifle and Close Quarters Marksmanship while in a classroom setting and reinforce those fundamentals in a live fire session on one of our ranges. All SafeSide training courses begin with the 4 basic rules of shooting safety and reinforce those rules throughout the classroom and range sessions.

  • Treat every firearm as if it were loaded
  • Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until ready to shoot
  • Always point the firearm in the safest direction possible
  • Be aware of your target and what is beyond it

The basis for proper shooting is a good form/positioning and understanding the 4 key fundamentals of shooting. Your ability to understand, practice and execute these repetitively will lead to successful results during the live fire portion. The 4 fundamentals will be covered in depth during the classroom portion and are listed below:

  • Steady Position
  • Aiming
  • Breath Control
  • Trigger Squeeze

The Tier I classroom session ends with a dryfire exercise of the CQM tables that we will shoot on the range. Safety is paramount and that is why we will practice this twice before executing a live fire designed to gauge our precision and fundamentals thru a series of movements followed by shooting controlled pairs at a specific target.

After the classroom session, the training continues in the range where live fire exercises reinforce the classroom instruction. Under the watchful eye of our skilled instructors, the shooters will receive immediate feedback on their shooting forms as well as recommendations on how to continue their training and strengthen all areas of their shooting skills. Shooters will utilize their own firearm or may choose from a SafeSide rental AR/MSR. Shooters should bring a minimum of 200 rounds of ammo along with eye and ear protection. Additionally if you have helmet, elbow and knee protection, a ammo bearing kit, or a Kevlar Vest bring those items.  Ammo may be purchased from SafeSide. The class is slated for a 4 hour period but could run longer or could be cut short based on individual abilities and adaptability to the training. The instructor will make the determination on this. Our goal is for you to successfully complete the basic CQM tables at least twice.

Due to Covid-19 policies, we can no longer rent eye/ear protection. Options are available for purchase or you can bring your own!
