The Lynchburg Range is Reopening!

Posted by Mitchell Tyler | 04.28.2020

SafeSide Lynchburg's Indoor Range is NOW OPEN! We need need to make sure that we abide by the language of EO53 as it pertains to restrictions that apply to us.  Judge Yeatts’ Order granting Temporary Injunction & related Opinion specifically says that “SafeSide has shown a willingness to conform with what is commonly called ‘social distancing’ as well as the executive order limiting the range to ten patrons at a time."  We hold that our policies and procedures, as outlined below, will meet all requirements set forth in EO53. While we have opened in a manner that creates the least amount of exposure possible, please make the right decisions for yourself and your family when it comes to your health.

Excerpt from EO53

All businesses shall, to the extent possible, adhere to social distancing recommendations, enhanced sanitizing practices on common surfaces, and other appropriate workplace guidance from state and federal authorities while in operation.

So here’s the new “normal” for now

  1. One 25yd bay will be open 12pm-8pm Mon-Sat in LYNCHBURG ONLY.

    1. These hours are subject to change after we get back in the swing of things.

  2. Only 1 customer per lane will be allowed, 9 max in range

  3. All range sessions will be by reservation only (via website) for now.
    1. Each reservation starts on the hour (12pm, 1pm, 2pm, etc)
    2. There is a $10 non-refundable fee to place your reservation
    3. Range sessions will be for 30-min ($16 price).  With the $10 collected via website, we will plan to collect $6 at close-out
    4. 30 min sessions will give us time to process OUT 9 shooters and check them out, then process IN 9 new shooters for check-in
    5. 40 min after the hour (12:40, 1:40, etc) RSO will need to call cease-fire and people will need to leave the range to allow time for check-out, cleaning, and check-in of next group.
    6. There are no day passes available.  If you are late/miss your reservation you will forfeit your time or session
    7. Click here to start your reservation.
  4. All customers and staff in the range bay will be required to wear a face covering
    1. Customers may use their own mask or purchase 3-ply surgical mask for $3 or KN95 for $10
  5. Customers may not enter the facility if they have symptoms of, have tested positive for, are presumptive positive for, or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 (exemption for medical workers who wear PPE during patient contact).
  6. Rental eye/ear protection remains suspended. Customers may bring or buy these items
  7. Rental guns will not be available for use at this time.  We will assess/relax this after a little while
  8. Waivers will need to be completed prior to arrival and/or on customer personal device
  9. There are now plexiglass shields at the check-in desk
  10. We will not be collecting/holding drivers licenses (scan through the plexi)
  11. We will be using paper lane cards (throw away after use)
  12. Memberships will still be on hold. This is a tough one to navigate, we want to offer our members their benefits, but its also not fair to charge you when we understand you may not be able to or can not get on the range at the time they want. We don’t have the flexibility of charging only a few. If you were a member in good standing prior to shutdown, we will only charge the $10 reservation fee, but not the $6 additional fee.
  13. Ladies day discounted rate will not be in effect until further notice
  14. Range passes can be used for value ($16) but we can’t redeem them online, and we can’t give refunds for reservations.  Customers would need to have a minimum $16 tab due at the end of range session ($6 lane fee and $10 in ammo for instance).
  15. Social distancing stickers and tape lines will be placed on the floor. We reserve the right to ask you to leave if you cannot abide by the required rules.
  16. Updated Cleaning Procedures:
    1. As each customer leaves the lane, we’ll be using hospital grade disinfectant to sanitize the bench, shelf, and walls.
    2. The touchscreens will be wiped down with disinfected.
    3. RSOs will need to wear gloves and change them every hour
    4. All range staff need to wash hands every hour
    5. Door knobs to ranges will be wiped down every hour
